Congratulations on surviving the JEE marathon! Now comes the strategic part: The Seat Hunt. To make this "at-a-glance" for you, we’ve mapped colleges based on your percentile and how your category shifts your chances.

🛑 Important: How to Read the Category Shift

General/EWS/OBC: Rankings are relatively close, but EWS/OBC-NCL usually get a 2–4% percentile "buffer" for the same seat.
SC/ST: There is a significant shift. An SC/ST student at 90 percentile often has similar college options to a General student at 97–98 percentile.

💎 Tier 1: The "Dream" Bracket (99 - 100 Percentile)

Target: The Top 5 NITs, IIIT Hyderabad/Allahabad, and BITS Pilani.

🌟 Tier 2: The "High ROI" Bracket (95 - 98.9 Percentile)

Target: Mid-tier NITs, Top IIITs, and Premier Private Research Institutes.

Category Check: * SC/ST: At this percentile, you are a "Topper" in your category. You can easily get CSE in NIT Trichy or Surathkal.

OBC/EWS: You can secure CSE/IT in mid-tier NITs (like Nagpur, Jamshedpur, or Durgapur).

🚀 Tier 3: The "Solid Choice" Bracket (90 - 94.9 Percentile)

Target: Newer NITs, Top GFTIs, and Premium Private Universities.

Category Check:

SC/ST: You still have a very high chance for ECE/EEE in Top 10 NITs.
OBC/EWS: Focus on Core branches in mid-NITs or CSE in newer IIITs (like IIIT Una or Bhagalpur).

🧠 Tier 4: The "Smart Strategy" Bracket (80 - 89.9 Percentile)

Target: Reputed Private Giants and State Government Colleges.

Category Check:

SC/ST: This is your sweet spot for Core branches in Mid-tier NITs or CSE in North-Eastern NITs.
General/OBC: Your best bet is CSE in these private giants or looking at State Counselling (like MHT-CET, WBJEE, or JAC Delhi) where local government colleges offer lower fees.

💰 The "Hidden Benefit": Fee Waivers for Categories

If you are worried about the high fees of NITs/IIITs, remember the Government Fee Remission policy:

SC/ST/PH Students: 100% Tuition Fee Waiver (You only pay for Hostel/Mess).
General/OBC (Income < 1 Lakh): 100% Tuition Fee Waiver.
General/OBC (Income 1–5 Lakhs): 2/3rd Tuition Fee Waiver.

💡 Quick Decision Matrix (At-a-Glance)

Priority 1: Branch over College — If you want a high-paying software job, pick CSE at LNMIIT or Thapar over Civil at a Top NIT.
Priority 2: Location — If you are going private, choose Bangalore (PES), Pune (MIT-WPU), or NCR (Jaypee). Proximity to IT hubs makes a massive difference for internships.
Priority 3: The Brand — If you get BITS Pilani (any branch) or a Top 3 NIT, take it. The alumni network is worth more than the degree itself.

Final Checklist: > 1. Check your Category Rank in the JEE result.

2. Register for JoSAA (NITs/IIITs).

3. Apply separately for BITS, DTU (JAC Delhi), and LNMIIT (they don't use JoSAA).
